Recession Internet Fun

January 23rd, 2009

With the recession and plunging stock prices, we’re all looking for cheap things to do. There’s always good ole Blockbuster or Netflix, but besides that, people often are scratching their heads what to do. Here are some ideas for things to do on the Internet so you don’t have to blow money seeing a movie or going on a tropical vacation.

Games

There are all sorts of free games to play on the Internet. One of the first places to check out is Download.com, which has all sorts of both totally free games and sample games. The only problem with Download.com is that so much of it is samples that it gets annoying to play a game and then to have the game shut down on itself.

There are tons of places on the Internet with free flash games. One of the most famous is Newgrounds, and they have a lot of flash videos there as well.

Learn Something

Wish to improve yourself as a person, then the Internet is perfect for you. Everyone knows about Wikipedia, which is not only free, but an amazing encyclopedia about everything.

There are a variety of things you can learn about on the Internet.  Some things are just for fun. For example, are you into astrology? You can check your daily horoscope for free at a variety of places. Or, if you want to learn more about astrology and tarot cards, then you can read all about these subjects. One of my favorite astrological resources on the Internet with about 200 pages of information is MyFreeHoroscopes.net.
